Right.so what settings are you running at because back when I was raiding my fps was generally about 25-40 during boss encounters, and I had Phenom II x4 965 OCed 4ghz with a 6870, I had AA off and shadows on medium.

The reason it does it is likely you have your render distance up very high, so it's rendering players that are actually nowhere near your screen, so in Orgrimmar, you're not actually running equivalent to your 25 man raid, it's more like a 80 man raid and they're all doing things simultaneously.Īlso, I laugh at anyone bagging on the Phenom II series of processors, they're STILL comparable to mid-range I-series processors, and actually BETTER then the new AMD Buldozer series because of it's fucked up architecture. I switched from a phenom II x4 965 to a I5-3570k and saw definite performance increases. So I5-3570k, it's a quad core with rather good per core performance and it can be OCed rather decently. Also games don't take advantage of hyper threading. Also unless you plan on doing some heavy rendering or such that require more cores, you just don't need them. So as stated early get intel, I5-3570k would be nice. Most other games really on the cpu to handle other things while the GPU does most of the work, so games like crysis 2 will run better with AMD CPUs, though not quite as well as they would with intel but you don't see to hard of a performance hit. WoW, and most MMOs are very cpu dependent.
